Time Frame
- Submission: Only on the first Friday of every month.
- Gazette Notification: Done approximately two weeks prior to submission date.
- Publication of Gazette: Wednesday prior to submission on Friday.
- Newspaper Advertisements: The Citizen and The Star, within one week of submission.
- Inspection at Premises: 21 working days after submission by Liquor Board.
- Local Committee Review: Inspection report attached to application, placed on LOCAL COMMITTEE REGIONAL office agenda (1-2 months after submission).
- JHB Liquor Board Review: Local Committee sends application to JHB Liquor Board for agenda placement.
- Activation Fee Payment: After license approval, Liquor Board requests activation fee payment (NOT INCLUDED IN MY FEE - half of the license fee).
- License Issuance: Two to three weeks after payment received, the license will be printed and signed by the chairperson.
NOTE: The typical time frame for license issuance is 5 to 8 months after submission, but it may take longer due to backlogs at the local committee/liquor board or late inspections. The average processing time is approximately 6 months.

- Fingerprints and receipt for fingerprints (Police Clearance Certificate)
- Certified copy of ID
- Lease agreement or Title Deed
- Tax Clearance Certificate
- Plan of premises
- Zoning information (stand, erf number, and full address of premises - must have Business Rights)
- Menu (if applicable for consumption)
- CV of applicant
- Background information about the business
IF APPLICANT IS A COMPANY:
- Fingerprints and certified ID copies of all directors
- Tax Clearance Certificate of the company
- Company documents
- Resolution letter if more than one director
- If the lease is in a personal name, a consent letter
